How to Say No

Recently I gave a presentation at work about my approach to time management. While I don’t think it’s necessarily revolutionary, I also shared my approach to saying no, which I think is extremely important.

My flow for “getting to no” is:

  1. Does this align with my purpose/goals? Yes – do it! No?

  2. Does this make me excited/happy? Yes – do it! No?

  3. Is this important to someone I love? Yes – consider it. No? DON’T DO IT

So often we find ourselves dreading a dinner or coffee date that we set up weeks ago. Try to go through this flow when you’re having trouble deciding whether or not to say yes to something. Be ok with saying no.

While off putting at first people will come to respect you and likely ask you for advice when they see you accomplishing your goals and ultimately becoming your best, most happiest and fulfilled self.

What questions do you ask yourself to say no?
