My Baby Essentials

I’ve had this post on my list of blog posts to write for a longgggggggg time. It obviously feels less relevant to me now that I have a toddler but for those first time mamas out there that feel overwhelmed by all. of. the. stuff….I have some good news. You don’t need it. That’s right, you don’t need it.

When you first come home from the hospital, all you really need is newborn diapers & wipes (we buy Pampers), some onesies (loved the 3 packs from H&M), somewhere for your baby to sleep (we loved the Snoo – trust me, the extra hour of sleep is 100% worth it) and a car seat. Also, we love our UppaBaby Stroller because Liam could nap in the bassinet and it glides really smoothly when you walk with it. You can also run with it by locking the front wheels.

It’s handy to have a swing seat so you can workout, cook, shower or have a free hand…but you don’t really need toys until they are at least 6 months. Now, Liam isn’t even that obsessed with toys although we have them around. My favorite toy companies are Melissa & Doug and Grimm’s because they’re appealing to the eye even when the baby goes to sleep. For those not so appealing toys (ie: Duplo), we have baskets from West Elm in our living room to store them.

Aside from that, Liam is obsessed with books so I recommend stocking up on as many books as you can. They make for great decor and bedtime ritual 🙂

Do you have any other specific questions related to my baby essentials?
