Malibu Travel Diary
This post is long overdue (like, years)…but ever since we travelled to Malibu for the 30th birthday, I’ve been inspired by the vibe: beachy, natural, laid back and (of course) centered around the ocean and the mountains (two of my favorite things). I wanted to put together a photo diary from our trip and share my favorite spots. When it’s safe enough to travel again, we will definitely be back! We actually have a trip booked for this August, so keeping our fingers crossed for that 😊
We stayed at The Surfrider Malibu, which I had my eye on since it opened. The beachy decor, laid back vibe and incredible food made it so that we never wanted to leave (and we hardly did!) We enjoyed their amazing morning coffee in the lounge before our hikes, long leisurely breakfasts on the rooftop patio, and most importantly, drank their incredible margaritas during the sunset. It was heaven on earth and the menu was exactly what I love: fresh, farm to table, healthy but insanely delicious.
Other favorite restaurants in Malibu are: Nobu & Malibu Farm, but truthfully we didn’t venture much from the hotel restaurant. If you have time, Gjelina is my fave spot in Venice (but we can save the LA faves fr another post).
Since we were there for my 30th birthday, I wanted to do something a little “extra” so I signed up for a Tarot reading with Cathy Crystal and took in a sound bath at Five Sense Collective. Both did not disappoint.
We hiked Zuma Canyon and Point Dume, both did not disappoint. Living at a house around Point Dume, overlooking the beach, is now my life goal 😉
The Pier has some great little shops (we obviously had to buy a little book for Liam at Ranch on the Pier). On our way back to the airport, we stopped by Pacific Palisades to see all of my favorite brands in person: Sweet Laurel, Amber Interiors, Sun Life Organics, Anine Bing to name a few.
