Summer Dreaming
Like every other person who lives in the Pacific Northwest, the torrential downpours this weekend had me dreaming of sunshine and summer. I’m not going to lie, I was googling California weather and while it’s still unseasonably chilly and rainy down south, the promise of a little sunshine and less rain had me seriously considering a flight. Usually Vancouver gives you a little peak of Spring around this time, to remind you of why you live here but it’s been a pretty wet couple of weeks.
It won’t surprise you then that we’ve spent the last couple of weeks nailing down some plans for summer and early fall and I couldn’t be more excited for the places we’re going and the people we get to spend time with. I’m also very much looking forward to summer weekends in Whistler, where the heat just feels hotter than Vancouver and the vibe is so so relaxed. Hiking, biking, lounging by the lake. The perfect Canadian getaway IMO!
I’ve been trying to be really good at limiting spending and shopping my closet but there are a few pieces that I can’t get out of my mind for the summer, so I thought I’d share!
Raffia
I’m currently debating between this cutie and this more beachy everyday option. Do we have a preference? I also love this piece for a more reasonable yet still well made price point.
Denim
I remember reading after NYFW that “pants were in for summer” and actually laughing out loud. That being said, I do enjoy a summer denim moment and have finally found the perfect denim for my height (I don’t always love a cropped look and at almost 5’9” it’s hard to find a pair that reach my ankles). I’m wearing TTS 25.
Lace
If you’ve been following me on IG you know I’m having a moment with lace and all things 70s. Particularly a lace kimono or cover up look which I found here. I’ve also been coveting this whole Zimmerman look after seeing it during PFW. In fact, all of their new arrivals are quite dreamy.
A good book
I just re-read this book after seeing the author speak this weekend and I’m so glad I underlined so many passages because it made it so easy to flip through
I also re-read this one this weekend and I find it super helpful for breaking down the process of manifesting (especially when you feel like you’re hitting a block)
I’m re-listening to Rick Rubin’s book (still my most life changing book of 2023 so far)
I’ve downloaded samples of all of the Taylor Jenkins Reid books since finishing the Daisy Jones series and wanting to get back into her work (she’s my fave)
I’m also considering this one for a real novel
This coffee table book is also on my wishlist
This week is a continuation of last - digging into my role at One Wednesday and trying to sort out some of the key pieces for our new playroom and my downstairs office! I’m sticking to my morning routine, trying to get my sauna and steps in and really just focusing on feeling good. I hope you have a good one! x
