What I'm Calling in For This Season
Every year when the clocks hit Sept 1, I feel an immediate reset and desire to make the most out of the last four months of the year. Around this time, I re-evaluate what I’m working towards, how I’m going to get there, and really hone in on what I want to accomplish and cultivate for the end of the year but most importantly, the beginning of the next. I really do believe that autumn can be such a pivotal season for introspection and growth. Here are the things that I’m calling in for this season (I made the vision board above so that I can visualize the vibe I’m trying to manifest).
1) A consistent work from home routine that gives me balance and energy but also allows me to be involved in the kids’ lives. I finally feel like I’ve found more of a routine as an entrepreneur, but there is definitely a more care-free vibe in the summer. In some ways, I want to bring that lack of routine into the fall and give myself the ability to listen to what my body, mind and soul needs to move things forward. I want to be able to drop the kids off and spend a decent amount of time taking them to their activities. This means early wake ups for workouts and meditation, and power hours of One Wednesday work.
2) Embracing new looks and fall fashion - I absolutely love this time of year for fashion (you can see my fall fashion round up here). I’ve been loving learning more about fashion both professionally and personally the last couple years and plan to try out some different vibes especially with our upcoming trip to Italy. Will share more as I go here!
3) Take myself on artist dates and find inspiration in new places. When I read The Artist’s Way years ago (one of the most pivotal books IMO when it comes to creativity), I was fascinated by the idea of a weekly “artist date” - where you take yourself on a little date each week to help cultivate creativity. I always seem to put these off but I’ve blocked off a couple hours on Fridays to bring them back into the rotation.
4) Gain clarity on our home - we have thought a lot about what the next step is when it comes to where we are living. Maybe it’s here, maybe it’s another house? Either way, I want to find some clarity to really enjoy wherever it is that we are in these pivotal years with our kiddos.
5) This is definitely the season of hermiting and going inwards. I want to spend a ton of time reading (all my fave books here), a ton of time at home cooking, early to bed early to rise…you catch my drift.
6) One of the biggest things I am always working on is finding the joy in the little moments - hugging my kids and feeling their soft skin, sitting with them during bath time, a glass of wine with my husband or a friend, a walk with another founder, writing in my journal, sitting in my garden. The little things really are what matters most (to me).
7) Knowing that there are seasons for everything. Right now, we have young kids. What we can accomplish outside of our family time is limited but it doesn’t mean that anything is impossible. It just might take a little longer right now and that is totally ok. We’ll never get these years back. We’ll have good days and bad days, but I know that if I stick to my daily practices, everything will move in the right direction. For me, this comes down to moving my body, listening to my inner guide and intuition through meditation and writing, and trying to be as present as possible.
At the end of this season, I hope to have a strong sense of clarity, connection to self, and creativity. I hope you do too! xx
